Footage has been shared online of a group of social media daredevils dangerously leaping off of Tower Bridge in East London to cool off during the heatwave. The thrill-seekers shared the video of themselves jumping and flipping from the iconic landmark into the Thames below on Instagram.

The post has since received hundreds of likes in the two days it has been up on the social media platform. In the video, a series of different angles show the boys wearing just swimming shorts as they jump from the road section of the bridge, with passing cars and even an open top tourist bus witnessing the reckless stunt.

Hurtling towards the water 40ft below the boys can be seen landing awkwardly in the water causing huge splashes as they hit the surface. Fortunately there weren't any boats around in the usually busy stretch of water.

The member of the group who posted the clips, 18-year-old Adam Szaniawski, who was joined by his friends Toby (@tw.visions) and Alex (@alexanderfarrell1999), told the Sun: "We were all buzzing".

Comments underneath the jaw-dropping post ranged from those impressed by the stunt writing "this was sick", to detractors joking: "RIP. Probs like 50 diseases in that river alone."

The wild stunt comes in the middle of a blistering heatwave, with temperatures in central London climbing as high as 30C over the weekend, which may explain why the boys felt the need to attempt something so drastic to cool off.
